DESHAFO (Destiny Shapers Foundation)

DESHAFO derives its name from Destiny Shapers Foundation.

This is a foundation that sprung from MOSA Homabay church in the Year 2013 as a mentorship program for both the children, teens and youths that grew up within the church. The main activities were to empower the children, teens and youths through mentorship programs, biblical teaching and education monitoring. The founder and director of this foundation was Madam Rolex Ongute who has a real passion for the children, teens and Youths.

Later, in the quest to involve and integrate the entire community and the vulnerable groups, the foundation became a CBO and together with like-minded people and organizations several activities were mapped out, then the CBO was officially registered with the social office of the county of Homa-bay. The board was constituted and the first activity of the CBO was to build a school, using members’ contributions and this became the place where these activities would be done and even much more. The youths from the foundation who had grown through the system came along to be able to give back to the community and help where necessary. Thus the school admitted its first learners in the year 2020.

The CBO currently has its membership with ElimuYetu Coalition, This is an organization that has one of its core mandates being to eradicate GBVS in the country and spearhead the education process of the girl Child.

For the education wing, the school currently has the ECD (PP1 & PP2) and the primary wing (G1-G6), where learners are nurtured in both formal curriculum and informal learning.

Our Dreams and Plans

  • Open wings and sponsor learners from vulnerable households within the community and sub-county to be able to give them a boost to unleash their inbuilt abilities as they learn and are nurtured within the school
  • Sinking a community borehole to supply water can enhance local farming efforts, contributing to food security, self-reliance, and sustainable development, ensuring the community has a reliable source of nourishment and economic resilience.
  • To equip and expand the “Safe Space” for the Sexual and gender-based violence (SGVB) survivors and girls who are molested within the sub-county
  • Estabish a music class to empower the community by fostering creativity, self-expression, and unity, while also providing opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and cultural preservation.
  • Construct an ablution block which is disability-friendly that is better and lifts the sanitation of the learners
  • Create an enabling environment for talent development.
