Rolex Akinyi Ong'ute is a passionate educator, community leader, and philanthropist dedicated to transforming the lives of children, youth, and families through education, mentorship, and social empowerment.
She currently serves as a teacher of Physics and Chemistry at Obera Boys High School, where she has consistently inspired learners to overcome fear of science subjects and achieve academic excellence through practical, learner-centered approaches. With over 15 years of teaching experience, she is deeply committed to nurturing critical thinking, confidence, and purpose among her students.
Rolex is the Founder and Executive Director of DESHAFO Integrated CBO and DESHAFO Integrated School, institutions that provide holistic support to underprivileged children, teenagers, and women. Through her leadership, the organization has become a beacon of hope in the community, offering mentorship, education support, and empowerment programs that address real-life challenges facing vulnerable groups.
She is the convener of the annual GRETECHI (Great Teens and Children) Conference, a flagship mentorship initiative that has impacted hundreds of young people each year for over 15 years. The program focuses on academic growth, life skills, health awareness, moral values, and social well-being, contributing significantly to positive behavioral change and strengthened family relationships.
In recognition of her outstanding contribution to community development and philanthropy, Rolex was honored with the 2025 Presidential Heroes Award (Shujaa) under the Philanthropy Category in Homa Bay County.
Beyond her work in education and community service, Rolex is a certified Children and Family Mediator with the Kenyan courts, supporting conflict resolution and family restoration. She also contributes to national education development as a Chemistry panelist with KICD, helping shape quality curriculum materials.
She holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Maseno University, which enhances her leadership, strategic planning, and organizational management in both educational and community initiatives. Rolex is also a regular speaker on Ramogi TV and Radio, where she addresses issues related to parenting, education, and child protection. In addition, she serves as a Children's Minister at MOSA Church, Homa Bay, where she mentors young people in spiritual growth and character development.
